The mission of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is to conserve, protect, and enhance fish and wildlife and their habitats for the continuing benefit of the American people. The Service's major responsibilities are for migratory birds, endangered species, certain marine mammals, and freshwater and anadromous fish.

The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) directs its conservation efforts toward three global goals: protecting endangered spaces, saving endangered species, and addressing global threats. The Sierra Club is a nonprofit, member supported public interest organization that promotes conservation of the natural environment by influencing public policy decisions: legislative, administrative, legal, and electoral.
